LITERATE LIVES

The Literate Lives program ensures more of our young people are strong readers, writers and thinkers. In Illinois, the percent of African-American children who meet or exceed  standards on the SAT or ACT is below 20% year over year. We have to combat low literacy achievement from all angles, through the family, the school and most importantly with the young people.

Contact us for:

  • Workshops for parents and teens on  a variety of literacy topics

  • Assessment of adolescents reading and writing strengths and needs

  • Professional development for educators- children spend most of their day in the classroom so  building teachers knowledge and skill for supporting older struggling readers is key

  • Consulting - we help non-profits and school districts design and implement strategies to raise literacy achievement

“My alma mater was books, a good library… I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.” — Malcolm X
